Deheubarth

The ruler of Deheubarth was King Rhys ap Gruffydd ap Rhys, who had ruled since 1155 and would continue to do so until 1197.

England

King Henry II (Henry Beauclerc) ruled England together with his son King Henry (The Young King) until Young Henry's death.

Gwynedd

King Owain Gwynedd ap Gruffydd died, leaving the throne to his eldest son King Hywel ab Owain who was killed and usurped by King Dafydd ab Owain (Dafydd the Usurper). Gwynedd was then split amongst him, King Maelgwn ab Owain and King Cynan ab Owain, the brothers of Hywel.

Scotland

The ruler of Scotland was King William I (William the Lion), who had ruled since 1165 and would continue to do so until 1214.
